Birthday Present

I've just been given an awesome birthday present. :)

My friends Robin, Sonia and Marla are taking me to Lowes Motor Speedway on May 17 for the All Star race. :-)

Sonia and Marla will drive up Friday morning, and Robin and I will follow Friday night after work.

:-)

They are buying my ticket and the hotel room is already free. :-) So food and gas is all I'll be buying.

I have great girlfriends!!!

Let's go racin' boys!

The race was a lot of fun. I was bummed that Mikey didn't qualify, but I rooted for his teammates and have also decided that Juan Pablo Montoya is someone I'm going to pull for. :-) He's Columbian (so a we are from neighboring countries), he has raced in the past, he seems to love what he does. Oh yeah, and he's a CUTIE pie. :-)

I have to say, camping in the pop-up is sooooo much better than a tent. :-) I still enjoy the memories of the tent camping and would certainly do it again, but I'm now spoiled.

Friday night we had sandwiches for dinner at the track. Saturday morning we had whole wheat english muffin egg sandwiches and fruit for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch at the track, chicken, salad, corn and rice for dinner. Yum.

Sunday was our French toast breakfast morning, sandwiches for lunch at the track and instead of cooking after we took down all of our camping equipment, we decided to head to DQ on the way home.

It was a fun weekend, as usual. :-)

AMS WEEKEND!

Tomorrow we pack it up and head to AMS! I'm hoping Mikey qualifies for the Sunday race. It'll be disappointing to go and not see him run.

Of course PEM is still rooting for Kyle and Bobby (cool story about Bobby later in this blog), Marla and Robin will be fighting over Jimmie. At least they have a chance at rooting for a champion. LOL. This will be PEM, Marla and my 7th trip to AMS together, and Robin's very first! The camper is already down there (set up last week) and tomorrow afternoon we head down to settle in. Looks like it may rain tomorrow, but should be nice for the rest of the weekend.

Ok...the Bobby story. Marla was in Vegas last weekend and went to a charity auction. She used to be a "die hard" (read: Bandwagon) Bobby Labonte fan, but changed alliances (to Jimmie Johnson) when Bobby went to Petty Enterprises. Anyway, she still has lust in her heart for him. The auction was for a ride around the track during driver introductions. She had the winning bid of $600. (yeah, I know I have better things to do with my money too...LOL). Anyway, it all worked out great, not only did she get to ride with him, the Casino comped her room for the next two nights (which was MORE than $600) AND she gets to write it off as a charitable donation! Sheesh. Some people. More luck than sense, as my mother would say.

Ok...so off to work I go. Actually, I'm here, and I've been typing this while I was on hold.
